Halloween, Dora vs. The Little Mermaid
After weeks of trying to figure out what V wanted to be for Halloween (this being the first year that she would go out with Dad and ring doorbells and collect candy) she (we) settled on Dora the Explorer.
Upon the arrival of the Dora the Explorer costume Vk began what can only be described as a marathon obsession session with Dora and the Dora costume. She wore it all day, several days in a row, taking naps in the Dora costume, only taking it off to take baths. This resulted in two things, 1) the useful interest in the Dora costume was expired by the time the big day arrived AND 2) the costume itself was pretty much worn out by the big day.
Andrea discovered the the costume sales begin the day before halloween and purchased what she thought might be next years costume (The Little Mermaid) in a 4T size. VK immediately discovered this, and having recently watched the little Mermaid begn obsession session #2, just in time for trick or treating.
It was quite amusing watching her slither on the floor, then miraculously shedding her mermaid tail to get legs (so she could be with her prince) yet lose her voice. Oh the drama.
VK and Dad braved the frigid, brutally windy conditions to hit 5 nearby houses. VK thought the idea of ringing doorbells and getting candy was pretty sweet. She kept looking in her pumpkin bucket and saying "look Daddy . . . candy!!"
She then hung out at home and greeted all the kids that came by our house for a treat, she selflessly offered up her newfound candy riches to the other kids, but we explained that we had candy for them and that she could keep her candy (although it mysteriously disappeared while she was sleeping).
Anyway, she digs Halloween. Yeah!
